Lupus Films is celebrating several prestigious award wins and nominations for its hand-drawn animated films Ethel & Ernest and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, ahead of its attendance at American Film Market 2017 next week.
This week, animated feature film Ethel & Ernest has picked up the Jury Prize at the Bucheon International Animated Film Festival in South Korea as well as Best Feature Animation at the Anima – Cordoba International Animation Festival in Argentina. The news follows hot on the heels of Ethel & Ernest’s nomination this week for Best Animated Feature at the highly-respected European Film Awards, which are being held in December in Berlin. The film will be up against Louise by the Shore, Loving Vincent and Zombillenium – and marks the first time that four films have ever contested the category.
Meanwhile, following a successful season on the festival circuit, animated short film We’re Going on a Bear Hunt has snapped up a coveted Children’s BAFTA nomination for Best Animation and will compete against The Amazing World of Gumball, Revolting Rhymes and Shaun the Sheep at the ceremony held in London next month. And the score’s composer Stuart Hancock has picked up a nomination for Best Original Score – Animated Short Film at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards being held on November 16th in LA.
“Our hugely creative and talented team worked tirelessly to bring these hand-drawn animated films to life and it is a testament to their work that the films are now receiving such fantastic recognition from the industry,” says Lupus Films co-founder Camilla Deakin.
Co-founder Ruth Fielding adds: “It’s great to get these nominations in the run up to the US awards season. After performing so well in our home territory it’s very satisfying that both films are convincing audiences and juries around the world of their merit.
