Lupus Films teamed up with The Leith Agency to produce a sequel to A.G. Barr’s phenomenal IRN-BRU Snowman Christmas advert. #BruSnowmanTwo
The original advert, directed by our very own Director Robin Shaw, was released twelve years ago in Scotland and has been shown almost every Christmas since. The beloved advert comically ended with the wee boy landing in Glasgow’s George Square after the Snowman robbed him of his can of IRN-BRU.
Robin Shaw returned in 2018 to direct the sequel, which follows the wee boy’s endeavours to retrieve his can of IRN-BRU from the Snowman in a chase around some of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes. Many of the animators who worked on the original advert were reassembled for the sequel, which was made using the same traditional pencil on paper animation techniques.
Ed Brooke, Head of The Leith Agency, had this to say: “We had the great pleasure of working with Lupus Films to produce and create the sequel to our classic IRN-BRU Snowman. From the very start of the process they couldn’t have been more of a joy to work with; collegiate, collaborative, highly responsive but most importantly, incredibly talented. At every stage of the production they kept adding more quality and value so that at the end of the process we had a brilliant film that all stakeholders were proud of and the audiences loved. This wasn’t an easy brief; to make the sequel to a classic ad in a very limited timescale, it could have been fraught. But Lupus took the whole thing in their stride and made the whole production seem effortless and rewarding.”
